Edelweiss Air Starlink WiFi — Coming Late 2026

Edelweiss Air is a Swiss leisure airline based at Zurich Airport (ZRH) and a wholly owned subsidiary of SWISS International Air Lines, itself part of the Lufthansa Group. Founded in 1995, Edelweiss operates a fleet of approximately 20 aircraft on holiday routes from Switzerland to Mediterranean, African, and long-haul leisure destinations — the Canary Islands, Cape Verde, the Dominican Republic, Maldives, Phuket, and Zanzibar among them. The airline carries roughly 2 million passengers annually and has a strong following among Swiss holidaymakers for its leisure-focused service. Edelweiss became part of the Lufthansa Group's January 2026 Starlink commitment alongside SWISS, Lufthansa, Austrian, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, and Air Dolomiti. The rollout is scheduled to run from late 2026 through 2029. Edelweiss has not published an aircraft-specific installation timeline, and zero aircraft are currently confirmed as Starlink-equipped. The Edelweiss fleet is a mix of Airbus A320-family narrowbodies (A320ceo x14, A320neo x1) for medium-haul leisure routes, plus two Airbus A340-300 and two Airbus A350-900 widebodies that operate the airline's longest-haul charter services. The A350-900 aircraft are the most modern in the fleet and are prime candidates for early Starlink installation — both the technical compatibility of new-generation airframes and the long sectors to destinations like the Dominican Republic (DOM), Maldives (MLE), and Thailand (BKK) make the widebody case compelling. For Swiss leisure travellers, Starlink on Edelweiss would be a meaningful upgrade from the current offering on long-haul charter services.
