SEA is one of the most lounge-friendly airports in the US because it has a single security zone — every lounge is accessible from every gate. The new American Express Centurion Lounge in the Central Terminal (opened February 2025, 14,000 sq ft) is the best lounge at SEA and is reachable from any gate, making the Amex Platinum exceptionally powerful here. For Priority Pass holders, the South Satellite Club at SEA (above Gate S10) is significantly better than the Concourse A location — it has showers, more seating, better views, and longer hours (until 1:30am). If travelling on Alaska out of the North Satellite, the flagship Alaska Lounge (Mezzanine above Gates N13–N18) is exceptional — pancake machines, local beers on tap, and floor-to-ceiling airfield views. United Club holders note: United gates moved to Concourse B in 2025 but the United Club is still in Concourse A — allow 10 minutes extra to reach your gate.
SEA has six security checkpoints all located in the Main Terminal. All six offer CLEAR biometric prescreening, but TSA PreCheck is only available at two of them — check signage on arrival and choose a PreCheck-enabled lane to avoid queuing at a non-PreCheck checkpoint by mistake. SEA uses a virtual queuing system called SEA Spot Saver (available at the Port of Seattle website and app), which lets you book a security time slot during peak periods — strongly recommended during summer and holiday peaks when queues have historically stretched into the parking garage causing 60-90 minute waits. Once airside, all concourses and satellites connect via post-security walkways or the SEA Underground people mover, so you only need to clear security once to access any gate or lounge. The SEA Underground runs every 2–3 minutes and is the fastest way to reach the North Satellite (Alaska) and South Satellite (international).
All non-pre-cleared international arrivals — regardless of departure terminal — are processed at the International Arrivals Facility (IAF) on the southeast side of the main terminal. The IAF opened in 2022 and connects to the South Satellite via a 780-foot (240m) overhead bridge. Global Entry kiosks are available at the IAF and dramatically reduce CBP processing time — enrol in advance at cbp.gov. The CBP One mobile app (Mobile Passport Control) is also accepted. Some Canadian routes offer pre-clearance. If connecting from an international flight to a domestic onward flight, allow at least 60–90 minutes — after clearing customs you must recheck any bags, find the correct concourse, and may need to re-clear security.
