E-ZPass accepted in all lots. All rates include taxes and fees (effective June 15, 2023). The single most important thing to know about EWR: there is no airside connection between terminals, and the AirTrain is undergoing replacement construction with weekday daytime suspensions in 2026 — always verify AirTrain status before your travel day at panynj.gov, as missing this can make a terminal transfer into a 30-minute ordeal. For Priority Pass holders, the pickings are genuinely thin — the Minute Suites in Terminal C (Gate C125) are the only practical option airside, and the Be Relax Spa credits in Terminal A go toward treatments rather than food. The best lounge at EWR for eligible passengers is the United Polaris Lounge in Terminal C (Gates C102–C120), which offers proper sit-down dining and is one of the top two or three Polaris Lounges in the US. For parking, the P6 Economy Lot ($30/day prebooked) combined with the free 24/7 shuttle is the best value — prebook at newarkairport.com to guarantee a spot during summer and holiday peaks.
EWR has separate security checkpoints at each terminal — there is no airside connection between Terminals A, B, and C (except the Star Alliance airside courtesy shuttle between Gates A28, B68, and C71, which bypasses re-screening for eligible Star Alliance passengers). TSA PreCheck lanes available at all three terminals; CLEAR available at Terminals A and C. Terminal A (new building, opened 2023) has the smoothest security experience at EWR with modern automated screening lanes. Terminal C can experience significant queues during United's peak morning (5am–9am) and evening (4pm–8pm) banks — allow 30–50 minutes without PreCheck. Terminal B security can be slower for international departures; allow 45–60 minutes for evening banks to European destinations. Check real-time TSA wait times at the MyTSA app before leaving for the airport.
All international arrivals are processed through US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in Terminal B, regardless of arrival terminal — a Terminal C United flight arriving internationally will route passengers to Terminal B's Federal Inspection Services. Global Entry kiosks are available in Terminal B and dramatically reduce processing time — enrol in advance at cbp.gov. The CBP One app (Mobile Passport Control) is also accepted for eligible passport holders. If connecting from an international arrival to a domestic onward flight, allow minimum 90 minutes — you must clear CBP, reclaim and recheck bags, and re-clear domestic security. Terminal C long-haul international connections are especially tight due to the transit to Terminal B arrivals and back.
