Air Seychelles Starlink WiFi

Air Seychelles, the flag carrier of the Indian Ocean island nation, has not announced plans to install Starlink satellite-powered WiFi on its aircraft. The airline currently operates without inflight connectivity on its fleet, meaning passengers should plan to remain offline during their journey or rely on personal downloaded content for entertainment. As a boutique carrier serving primarily regional and select long-haul routes, Air Seychelles faces unique considerations when evaluating connectivity investments, balancing passenger demand against operational costs and fleet modernisation priorities. Starlink's inflight WiFi technology has attracted considerable attention from airlines worldwide due to its high-speed, low-latency performance powered by a low-Earth orbit satellite constellation. Carriers adopting the service highlight the ability to offer passengers reliable streaming, video calls, and seamless web browsing even over oceans and remote areas where traditional air-to-ground systems fail. For airlines serving island destinations and transoceanic routes, satellite connectivity represents a particularly compelling proposition, as it eliminates the coverage gaps that plague older technologies. Whether Air Seychelles will pursue Starlink or an alternative connectivity solution remains to be seen. The airline's decision will likely hinge on fleet strategy, competitive positioning within its market, and the evolving expectations of passengers travelling to and from the Seychelles. As inflight WiFi transitions from premium perk to standard amenity across the industry, smaller carriers face mounting pressure to offer connectivity options that meet modern traveller expectations.
