Air Dolomiti is an Italian regional airline wholly owned by the Lufthansa Group and based at Villafranca di Verona Airport (VRN). Founded in 1989, the carrier operates a fleet of around 30 Embraer E190 and E195 regional jets, connecting Italian cities including Verona, Turin, Milan Malpensa, Bologna, and others to Lufthansa's Frankfurt hub (FRA) under a capacity purchase agreement. As a Lufthansa Group feeder, Air Dolomiti flights frequently operate under LH flight numbers, making them effectively part of the Lufthansa product experience for passengers connecting onward. In January 2026, the Lufthansa Group announced a group-wide Starlink agreement with SpaceX, covering Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, Edelweiss Air, and Air Dolomiti. The announcement commits to rolling out SpaceX's low-earth orbit satellite WiFi across all group carriers, though individual installation timelines have not been published per airline. Air Dolomiti is the smallest carrier in the group by fleet size, which cuts both ways: its rollout will involve fewer aircraft, but its Embraer E-jet fleet may require additional engineering work since the narrower Embraer fuselage differs from the Airbus and Boeing frames that dominate the rest of the group's fleet. At present, zero Air Dolomiti aircraft are confirmed as Starlink-equipped, and all routes carry a 15% Starlink likelihood baseline. The bulk of Air Dolomiti's network is short-haul: Italy-to-Frankfurt sectors average under two hours, which limits the return on investment for passengers compared to long-haul flying. That said, business travellers on Frankfurt-connecting itineraries — a core Air Dolomiti customer segment — frequently value connectivity even on short sectors to stay productive during the commute. Passengers travelling on Air Dolomiti should be aware that Starlink WiFi is not yet available on any service.
