The Lufthansa First Class Terminal (FCT) is genuinely world-class — and accessible to HON Circle members in any class
FRA's FCT is a completely separate building next to T1 Pier A. It offers private check-in with zero queue, a dedicated security lane (literally seconds), an a la carte restaurant with a chef, private suites, shower rooms, spa facilities, and — most famously — a Porsche or Mercedes-Benz limousine tarmac transfer directly to your aircraft door. Access requires: LH Group First Class ticket originating at FRA, or HON Circle status regardless of class. Connecting passengers can reach it by exiting Schengen and re-entering via the FCT landside pedestrian entrance (allow extra time). Skytrax 5-Star certified.
Terminal 3's CT scanner security is a genuine upgrade — if you have a choice of terminal
Opened April 2026, T3 uses CT scanners across all checkpoints: liquids up to 2 litres are allowed without a transparent bag, and you don't need to remove laptops or tablets. If flying Emirates Qatar Cathay British Airways American Air France KLM or other T3 carriers, your security experience will be meaningfully smoother than T1's legacy X-ray setup.
LuxxLounge T1 accepts Priority Pass but it is landside — don't cut it close
The LuxxLounge (T1 Area C Level 3 between Areas B and C Gallery Level) is the ONLY Priority Pass and day-pass lounge in Terminal 1. Critical: it is landside before security and passport control. After relaxing in the lounge, you must still clear security — which can take 20-40 min at peak times. If flying from T3, use the Priority Lounge in T3 Area J Level 5 instead — it is airside after passport control and far more practical.
The Fernbahnhof lets you skip domestic connections entirely
The ICE long-distance station is built directly into T1 — connected via footbridge from Level 3 — and serves 15 ICE lines. Cologne is 55 min away; Munich 3h15-30; Berlin 3h45. For travellers combining an international flight with a domestic German leg, ditching a domestic connection in favour of an ICE saves time city-centre to city-centre, eliminates a second security queue, and is more environmentally friendly. DB First Class lounge is also available at the Fernbahnhof mezzanine.
Book airport parking well in advance — walk-up prices are painful
FRA parking is expensive. The best value is Holiday Parking Nord (from EUR 68 for 7 days) which includes a free S-Bahn KombiTicket. Terminal Parking (P1-P3 direct T1) is from EUR 99/7 days with advance booking but far higher without. For day trips or quick pick-ups: the first 10 minutes in short-stay zones are free — useful for meeting arrivals. Book via parken.frankfurt-airport.com up to 9 months out.
Schengen Membership
Germany is a full Schengen Area member. Intra-Schengen flights: no passport control — security screening only. Non-Schengen/international: full border control.
Border Control Authority
German Federal Police (Bundespolizei / BPOL) — responsible for all passport and border controls at FRA
T1 Security
Multiple per pier (A B C Z). Schengen and non-Schengen flows separated post-passport control.. Standard X-ray + body scanners. Liquid 100ml rule applies in T1.. Significant queues typical 05:00-08:00 and 16:00-19:00. Allow extra time.
T3 Security
Modern CT scanners at all checkpoints — UPGRADE over T1. Up to 2 litres in hand luggage — no transparent bag required. Laptops tablets cameras may remain in hand luggage. Meaningfully better passenger security experience than T1

Walking distances to remote gates (A long-haul concourse Z pier) can add 10-20 min from security exit — factor this into your timing
