Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Dubai International is the world's busiest airport for international passenger traffic and the primary hub for Emirates, one of the most aggressive Starlink adopters in aviation. Emirates has over 100 widebody aircraft Starlink-equipped with a full fleet rollout underway, giving DXB some of the highest Starlink likelihood of any major hub globally. Qatar Airways serves DXB with Starlink-equipped aircraft on Doha connections.

If you have Priority Pass and are departing from Terminal 3 on Emirates, note that the Ahlan and Marhaba lounges in Terminal 3 are NOT accessible to Emirates passengers on Emirates flights — you must be on a non-Emirates carrier to use them; Emirates passengers in economy must use the paid Ahlan Lounge day pass. Terminal 3 is so large that many Priority Pass holders take the Metro between Terminal 1 (Marhaba/Ahlan Business Lounge) and Terminal 3 to access a better lounge — but this only makes sense if you have ample time. For long overnight layovers, Sleep 'N Fly (Priority Pass accepted) in Terminal 3 Concourse B (between Gates B14-B18) or Concourse A is the most practical rest solution, with lie-flat pods accessible 24/7 at no extra charge beyond your Priority Pass allowance.
DXB operates 24/7 with no official check-in cutoff times, but Emirates recommends check-in opens 3 hours before departure. Security queues at Terminal 3 (Concourses B and C) can be significant during morning peaks (05:00-09:00) when long-haul Emirates flights depart in clusters — allow 45-60 minutes from check-in to gate. UAE biometric e-gates (iris scan) are available to UAE residents and enrolled nationals for fast-track immigration — enrollment is done at airport immigration counters. Terminal 3 is vast: walking from Concourse A to Concourse C can take 20-30 minutes on foot including the internal terminal train ride; always check your concourse and allow extra time. Concourse B is the largest concourse and often has the longest walk from security to gate.
UAE immigration at DXB uses Smart Gates (biometric facial recognition) for GCC nationals and many nationalities with eligible e-passports — dedicated Smart Gate lanes significantly reduce queue times. First-time visitors must use staffed immigration counters. UAE visa on arrival is available for over 50 nationalities (free of charge for many). UK, US, EU, and many other passport holders receive a free 30-day visa on arrival. Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry. There are no exit taxes. Arriving passengers at Terminal 3 collect baggage at Concourse C/B arrivals halls; arrivals from Concourse E (when used) connect via the dedicated underground transfer tunnel to T3 baggage claim.
