Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) operates the Airport Sprinter (Route 5) — a direct express bus between CLT and Charlotte Transportation Center (CTC) in Uptown Charlotte. Bus stop at CLT: Zone 4 (baggage claim/arrivals level, lower level). Runs every 30 minutes, 7 days a week. Departs from CTC on South Brevard Street, Uptown. Connects at CTC to CityLYNX Gold Line streetcar and LYNX Blue Line light rail. Cash accepted (exact change only; driver does not provide change). CATS app or CATS website has live schedules. CATS Route 60 (Tyvola Road) also serves CLT to LYNX Blue Line Tyvola Station.

The Club CLT (Concourse A, near Gates A21/A22) is the only Priority Pass lounge at CLT, but capacity caps apply from 14:30–18:30 — it can fill up and turn away PP members during afternoon waves. Aim to arrive by 14:00 or after 18:30 to guarantee entry. CLT is American Airlines' second-largest hub, meaning nearly all connections use multiple American concourses — if you're connecting through Concourse B or C and need to get to Concourse E for an American Eagle departure, budget at least 20 minutes walking time plus gate assignment buffer. Unlike most large US hubs, CLT has zero inter-concourse trains — it's entirely on foot, which makes the Concourse A Capital One Lounge (announced near Gates A21–A29, opening TBD) strategically well-placed once it opens.
CLT is a single-terminal, five-concourse airport — all concourses are walkable airside once you clear security, with no trains. The full walk from Concourse A to Concourse E takes 20-25 minutes, so American Eagle passengers boarding from the far end of Concourse E (Gate E45+) should allow significant walking time. CLT has multiple security checkpoints: Checkpoint A (serves Concourses A/B), Checkpoint B (serves Concourses C/D/E), and an additional checkpoint at Concourse A North. TSA PreCheck lanes are available at all checkpoints. Peak security wait times are typically 07:00–09:00 and 16:00–18:00. CLEAR biometric is available. The $608M Terminal Lobby Expansion completed in 2025 significantly upgraded the check-in hall layout.
All international arrivals requiring CBP processing (non-preclearance flights) clear US Customs and Immigration at Concourse D (the international concourse). Global Entry kiosks are available at CLT for expedited processing. Mobile Passport Control app is also accepted for eligible US citizens and permanent residents. Air Canada and certain Air Canada Rouge flights operate with US customs preclearance — passengers on these routes clear immigration before departing Canada, bypassing CBP on arrival at CLT. Connecting passengers arriving internationally should allow at least 90 minutes for CBP, baggage, re-check, and re-clearing security before a domestic connection.
